Antique Pickle Jar/Castor with Tongs

Category
Other
Condition
Excellent
Description

I have an antique pickle castor/ jar that I would like to determine it's worth.  It is 10" tall from base to top of handle, 4" in diameter at the base.  It includes the holder, the jar (seems to be perfect condition, no chips, cracks, etc.), the tongs, and the lid.

The lid has 3 metal daisies and some leaves on the top.  Inside the lid states "Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plate" with the number 172 stamped/etched. and "Hard White Metal".

The bottom of the holder is "James W. Tufts Boston Warranted, Quadruple Plate" with the number 3603.  Above this stamp is in what looks to be handwriting in the metal the number 184.

Thank you!!

"The Baron"

Category
Paintings
Condition
Excellent
Description

We found this in the basement of a cabin the family owned since the 30's. No one in our family knows who this guy is. He looks very prominant and the style of the charcoal drawing with blue tinted eyes suggests that he is pre civil war. We nick-named him "The Baron" just for laughs and to give him some personality. If someone could help me figure out this guy, his story, and his worth, that would be fantastic. He is also in a GIGANTIC old wooden frame. This portait was found in south western Pennsylvania if that helps at all. Thanks!

antique silk embroidered tapestry

Category
Vintage Textiles and Clothing
Condition
Excellent
Description

This is an antique framed silk embroidered tapestry.

It belonged to my moms neighbor (who came over from Hungary) and she gave it to my mom in the late 70's.

I seem to remember my mom saying it was over a hundred years old (and maybe even a couple hundred but I don't remember). I do not think she knew exactly where it was from because I heard middle eastern, Hungarian/European and Asian thrown around.

It measures 37" high x 24" wide.
