My mother has asked me to use the internet to find out more about these plates. She inherited them from her nan and thinks they are atleast 100 years old. We have a set of six in O.K condition
This is a large metal frame (It seems to be silver plated) that measures 12 1/2" by 10 1/4". The frame was included in a lot I purchased. it is simple and beautiful at the same time, 4 ridges. The backing is made of wood, looks like old plywood. with a hinge and screws attaching the stand with the backing. I have attached the picture of the markins which are half faded. The first one looks like an initial followed by a name, maybe the artist?, the next word seems to start with a W, I am assuming this is the manufacturer. There is also a marking that looks like a crest and I have included my own drawing of it due to not being clear in the picture. The backing is marked with the number 367.
Brown glass, 6-7" tapered from approx.2 1/2" at bottom, 5/8" in middle, 1" at top. unusual in apearance and shape. It was among several items such as an early blue glass Phillips milk of magnesia bottle and several ball canning jars, also the construction is comparable to other period glass products so I figured the peice was similar in age. My grandfather was a collector of, well, anything that struck his fancy so I have seen many old, unusual, and/or rare peices but I aint never seen nothin like this.
This table lamp is absolutely stunning. It is very heavy and seems to be hand cut crystal. It also looks like it was converted from lantern to electric. The metal is brass or bronze. Prisms hang all around and the shade is removable. I have searched and searched unsuccessfully to find anything that comes close to this lamp and the unique shape and beauty. The lamp came from a very wealthy woman's estate in Palm Bch over 20yrs ago. It is in excellent condition.
Unicorn brooch about 2"long. Signature on back. Appears to say Weiss, with also another small ? signature or writing contained within a small oval. Would like to know period, value and maker.
