Originally shipped by private party in 1980 from England to California by private party. Sold in 1988 to us. We paid $1000 for it and it is in excellent condition.
This is a pitcher with the name Henriot Quimper on the bottom. Also, there is the word France and the number 752. I don't have background information on the piece.
It is heavy storage box with handles and legs with interesting designs on the oustide which seem to have a aztec or foreign influence. Seems to be handmade from the imperfections on the inside. Seems to be made out of brass or copper or maybe iron and has a light patena colar as well to it.
I bought this out of an old mansion, the woman that lived there was 93 and told me she remembers this painting hanging in the living room back in the 30's, it very large about 4 feet by 3 feet including frame, the artist sounds american or english (Lynne Hugh) can't find any info on the artist. Any one see any others like this, seems to be painted on some kind of cardboard stock. The frame has chipping and seems to be black lacquer. Just would like to know if it's worth more than I paid and if so, where to sell it.
