Hugh Armstrong Robinson

General Antiques and Collectibles
Condition
Good
Description

I found this at an estate auction in Goodman, Mo near Neosho, mo and was interested in what i need to do to better preserve it, as well as receive a monetary worth of this piece of correspondence. I found it very cool that in what appears to be a letter to perhaps an old hometown friend that their talking about cars. Then as I started to delve into his history what a remarkable life he lived.

*3rd person after the Wright Brothers to fly.

*Invented the Tailhook System that made it feasible to land aircraft on Ships. (As, a Navy Guy that is perhaps overlooked in importance)

*Demonstrated for military leaders the 'Dive Bombing' advantages a airplane could have in warfare.

*Along w/ Benoist created the first passenger plane

*Along w/ Benoist made the first Parachute jump. The parachute was designed soley by Robinson.

*First at Sea rescue by plane

*First Medical flight where he flew Dr. to patient

*First Air Mail

*First Right turn in airplane. (Apparently, they thought it would tear the plane into)

*First 360 in Airplane

*Also, devised the 'Circle of Death' motorcycle trick. I guess that was the top attraction for Ringling Brothers Circus then.

I've still got more to learn about him, but wow did he live.
