This is a wonderful punch bowl set that I was fortunate enough to purchase at a local auction.
The punch bowl is footed? and the cups have no handles. I have looked on the internet for weeks to no avail and am in hopes someone can help solve this mystery! There does not seem to be any visable makers mark. It does appear to have small bubbles in the glass.
"House and Home: A Complete Housewife's Guide" by Marion Harland. This is the original, signed 1889 copy that was published by J.S. Ziegler & Company, 113 Adams Street, Chicago, Illinois. With being over a hundred years old, this book has obvious signs of wear; the cover hinge has separated from the binding, pages are discolored, pages have separated from the back binding and the spine cover has a portion of the bottom missing.
my dad collected antique /primitive weapons and fire arms. also included in his belongings were a few rugs. two very similar in appearance and one very different. the two like rugs are about 3ftx5ft a little larger perhaps, like several inches in each direction. both have same colors which are gold (school bus yellow really) , rust, cranberry , navy, ivory and a bit of black detail. i have no idea what the fiber is, but i will say they are fairly 'flexible'. i imagined them much stiffer. they both have fringe which is inconsistant on both length and style. i have included pictures. the other rug is larger and looks the same on both sides. while this one is thinner, it is more rigid...stiffer it looks like maybe bird and fish are repeated tin the pattern or at least a symbolic representation. it too has fringe but it is done with more sophistication. i dont know what else i can add aside from pictures. hope it is enough to be of help to you
