Description
This table was purchased by my grandmother at a local antique dealer (Brantford, ON, Canada) in 1979 or 1980 and sat in her dining room until I aquired it last year when she moved into long-term care. I don't have any history on the table prior to that. My mom remembers going to pick up the table with her. At the time, it had a set of 6 or 8 chairs, which unfortunately have been destroyed. At the time of purchase she paid at least $1000 for it, though probably more.
The table is made by Jefferson Wood Working Co. A stamp on the slide reads "Jefferson E-Z Table Slide MFG by Jefferson Wood Working Co., Louisville, Kentucky". On the underside of the table are words in black stencil:
No 4111-4 Mahy
New Hampton Court
By Drexel 1051
I've been told that the pedestal/legs is called a birdcage style. It's in good condition. The table top is free of any scratches or dents. The base has some places where the finish has cracked off and the leaves have a few spots which are badly chipped (I'm including photos of the damage below).
That's all I can think of to share. If you have further questions, please just ask.
