Judy Garland Art

Category
Paintings
Condition
Good
Description

I bought this chalk art of Judy Garland in 2007 at an estate sale of the late Dorothy Denny. She was an early resident of Rancho Yucca Loma and owned Hollywood Studio Magazine. She traveled the world and bought antiques and collectibles as well. The art is on a velvet type material and was lain over a stool with no frame or mat. I passed it and then took a back step. I knew right away that it was Judy Garland. So I bought it along with four magazines (one with Judy on the cover), one Depression Era cookbook by Doti (Dorothy), one heavy brass pitcher, one photo of Judy dancing with Gene Kelly in the MGM movie "For Me and My Gal." When I took all the things to the check-out table I asked how much for the painting and was told $8.00. After I paid for everything, one of the estate attendants looked at the painting and said "Is that who I think it is?" and the lady at the table said "Yes it looks like it is." Then they looked at one another. At that point I thought I had something special. I did find out that it was one of two and a woman bought the first one. I took it to my cousin who paints landscapes and he matted and framed it for me.

U.S. District Court chairs (2)

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Fair
Description

I have a pair of chairs from the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada. They each have a metal plate on the leg that state the above. They were made by Jansko in CA. I was told they were judges chairs but don't think so. They can't be really old because they have plastic feet on the bottom of the front legs however, it may have been added later. One is somewhat torn up in the leather and wood a banged up. The other is in good overall condition. What do you think they are worth and were they really judges chairs? It's been hard to find out anything about them. Thank you.

The set belonged to my grandmother. It is a wedding gift from her mother. My grandmother was married in 1915. It is not known whether my grandmother wore it at her wedding or if she received it later. I believe the set to be silver with Rhinestones.
