I know that they are made by Villeroy and Boch in Luxembourg. I've done days of research on the internet and came up empty on any further definite information. The only other mixed pastels I found under Villeroy and Boch were dip trays from the Festival Ware Set, but their shape doesn't match and they are solid pastels unlike my bowls. (My bowls are yellow, green, gray and pink on the outside and white on the inside of the bowl.) I found these at a local thrift shop and the owner thought they might be rice bowls. I'm not even sure if they are bowls or open oven casserole dishes or dip trays or what else?
This Oil painting is 17" x15" and the oil painting itself is only 4.25" x 6". The gesso frame is 3.5" deep. It is painted on a wood panel. It is a beautiful young girl with two kittens. The frame appears to be done in gold flake. On the back you can see areas that the gold flake went around onto the rear of the frame. The frame is in excellent condition and the painting iteself has no damage at all. It is signed "Roma" in the bottom right hand corner. We cannot find any info on the painting and tried to date it but can only see it is from the 1800's. We do know that there was a school in Rome where students painted and then signed the work "Roma". I would like to get some info on the artwork as well as a value.
