This is a ice container for entertaining purposes. My uncle Jack McDonald owned it. He was a sportscaster when Babe Ruth was famous. My mom kept this piece with several other silver pieces which she just gave to me.
This is a oval table with hand carved trim and unique inlaid picture. It has the carved claw like legs and a removable glass tray. The hand carved picture under the tray is of what I call a Merman holding a jug or bucket up to his mouth and below him is a fish that has a cherub sitting on it's back. Directly under the right side of the Merman is another carving of the same type of fish.
This painting is from ;Robert Sills Gallery: During the 1970-80s, The Sills gallery was one of several that specialized in art auctions, Of all of them, the Robert Sills Gallery was the best by far, both for the quality and authenticity of their art, and their attitude to their customers and their artists. Sadly, Robert passed away in the mid-1980s.
