I researched this book and found other first addition copies on other websites. But it seems that my copy has a few differences. It contains only one lithograph in the front of I believe it is Thomas Benton. Others said their copies contained woodcuts and I was under the impression that woodcuts were also pictures which my text contains none. Neither seperate or in the text as the others were claiming. But My copy also does not appear that any pages have been removed. Also my copy contains several "ads" for other books published by D. Appleton and Company and the other sellers make no mention of this. Was this book published more than once in 1854 that would explain these differneces? Also others said their copies were 509 pages or 624 (not sure) but mine contains 709. These other copies are listed in the 2000-3000 range so to know what mine is worth would be great. If anyone is interested in purchasing this feel free to email me and I'll be happy to send any other pictures you would like. The front and back hard covers are not attached but still here and the side of the book has worn away but the pages are still completely intack and practically create their own spine. The condition is hard to describe so if you are interested pictures won't be a problem. I am really confused so any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
