this ribbed ming style vase is high quality , the process to make it by the pilgrim glass company involved using gold in its manufacturing.similar works of the cranberry glass line have a manufacturer sticker attached instead of stamping the bottom. i guess mine was removed.
i have researched this item , i cannot find another like it, it is adorned with old chinese coins from the 1600's (researched the markings on the coins).
I am thinking it was made as a good luck piece to bring wealth , or someone just had alot of time on their hands.
this item has baffled me for years , even as to what it is. it has raised flowers and leaves adorning both sides , the front has an engraved bird sitting on a branch and the rear is engraved with leaves also , but no bird. there is some bends in the metal , but nothing that cant be put back into place by a professional.
