Father was stationed in Germany. Purchased Clock in Germany from clock shop. Shop owner stated clock was from Austria.. originally had wood workings, but shop owner switched to current clock works. Was appraised at $5,000 in 1975. Has not been appraised since and I am looking to insure the clock.
Top is not very ornate, just the handle has a small pattern, sort of like raindrops.
The base is also plain with the exception of the edging along the top (where the lid would sit). This also repeats the raindrop like pattern with the addition of some leaves.
I indicated this as good condition because the bottom seems to have some scratches & there is also an area where I believe the hallmark once existing and has been worn away. I can make out what appears to be some letters and numbers, but I can't make out enough of it to even guess at what it says.
We are not sure if we want to sell the piece just yet, but we would like to have an idea of the value before making such a decision.
very simple piece, not too much decorative elements. Along the very base, where it sits on the table, there is a 1/4 inch or smaller trim that appears to be vines with flowers/leaves.
We do not know at this time if we are interested in selling, but we would like an idea on the value of the piece.
