I DO NOT REALLY KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS ITEM. MY FATHER FOUND THIS WHEN HE WAS A LITTLE BOY IN A DIRT PILE, WHERE A POST OFFICE WAS GOING TO BE BUILT IN NORTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. HE TOLD ME BEFORE THE "DIRT PILE" IT WAS JUST A WOODED AREA. I'VE SPOKEN TO SOME PEOPLE WHO SAID IT LOOKS LIKE A LETTER OPENER FROM THE 1920'S. I'M REALLY CURIOUS ABOUT IT BECAUSE ABOVE THE HILT OF THE "SWORD" THE WORD INDIA IS ENGRAVED. IT'S VERY HARD TO SEE AND EVEN MAKE OUT. IT'S ENGRAVED BY USING TINY DOTS. ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ITEM WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.
A couple years ago, I had a very lucky day shopping at a thrift store and bought this item for very little. Since then, I've done some research online, and have a few people interested in buying it. I know the Martele' line is very collectible and was wondering if anyone has an idea what something like this roughly sells for. There are no monograms, and I'm no silver expert or photographer but it looks to be in pretty good condition. It is a very beautiful piece of silver, and would like to sell if for the right price.
