I received this from my mother who inherited it from her grandmother's estate. We cannot find a date on it but remember my great grandmother using it when we went to visit her in Cincinnati when I was about 9 or 10 years old. My great grandfather was in the ice business in the late 1800's
I bought this painting at an estate sale seven years ago for $750.00. I have been able to find some limited information about the artist, Arnold Vail (1922-1997). I know he studied at the Chicago Art Institute and taught and painted around Taos New Mexico and also in Texas. I read that he was quite a prolific painter and that his works are in the Vatican among other places.
