1786 "Santa Barbara" Bell

Category
General Antiques and Collectibles
Condition
Excellent
Description

On one side is raised engraving with "1786" on one side and "Santa Barbara" engraved on the opposite side. The piece is in excellent condition and appears to be cast of brass. The ringer is intact and has a very nice tone.

I am extremely interested in the History of this bell and the "Religious 1874 French Bell" I posted a few days ago.

ANYONE WHO CAN GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON THE HISTORY AND VALUE OF THESE 2 BELLS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Nippon Footed Bowl

Category
China
Condition
Excellent
Description

Nippon Bowl

I believe this item was given as a gift to my great-grandmother. I don't know who gave it to her or where it came from.

This piece is a short, footed bowl with little holes in the bottom of it. Apparently, it wasn't used to hold liquids. The little ball feet have gold paint on the outsides of them but it is very lightly worn. The painted decorations on the inside are crisp and clear and there is no crazing on the piece anywhere that I can see.

Nippon

The makers mark says that it is a hand painted Nippon. The decoration on the inside of the bowl supports the hand painted part as the gold bands have pearling painted into them. Little dots of gold paint run through them and they all are present.
