The Ascension

Category
Paintings
Condition
Fair
Description

This painting is on leather over wood. The frame looks original to painting. The painting looks very old and has worm holes and crazing in the paint. Looks like a Russian icon painting but have never seen one like this before. It was bought in NYC in the 80s. Has never been appraised so not sure if it's origin or age. If anyone can give their input on this painting about it's origin and age and possible worth would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Antique Cranberry Flash Decanter 1930's?

Category
Antique Bottles
Condition
Good
Description

A friend of mine thinks this is flash glass due to the bottom and the top is worn due to use.  He thinks that this once had a glass top.  It could be cranberry flash glass, but it is more pink than that deep red that cranberry has.

This has a pattern that is similar to the pineapple and fan pattern of carnival, but it's not the right color for carnival and this has 'X's on the pattern.  The neck is not smooth, but is kind of like an octagon.  It has a '4' at the bottom of the container.  It is a beautiful color, like a fushia and has some irredescense to the piece.

  • Can someone confirm/refute what we found?
  • Is this a decanter that was used for wine or was it specific to pharmcuticals.
  • Is this a specific pattern for flash glass?
  • Are we close to the date on this item of 1930's?
  • About what is the value of this item?

Small statue

Condition
Excellent
Description

This statue was dug up by a friends grandfather in central Illinois in the late 70's early 80's.  I am curious to know who may have carved it and if it has any value.

This is a cut glass stein with a hinged pewter rimmed glass lid with a total height of 6.25 inches.

Oak Drop Leaf Table and Chairs

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

A relative is selling an oak drop leaf table and six matching leather upholstered chairs and we are attempting to determine a fair price. It has a ship carved in the headrest of each chair and the legs of the table and chairs have carved details as well. It was acquired about 30 years ago from a long lost acquaintance so we have no way to determine where it was purchased. There are no labels or any other identifying marks other than some numbers stamped on the bottom of the chairs and some numbers stenciled on the bottom of the table. By the way it came with a matching buffet but that is not for sale.

I'm new to furniture appraisal so any advice on pricing this would be greatly appreciated.

 Some photos of varying quality:

Bought this piece and the history is unknown. There is storage under the arm rests. Looks as if it has been stained. Looking for an approximate value or year/descent or what it is. Very unique and heavy.
