Mid Century Modern Standard Furniture Co (New York) Walnut Chrome Desk

By kiscel, 10 April, 2016
Description

This desk was built by the Standard Furniture Company out of  Herkimer, NY.

This is a great desk with a giant walnut slab top, ebony stained drawers with chrome pulls and legs. It measures 62" long x 34" deep and is 29.5" tall. This thing is heavy probably about 350lbs. On the left it has a file drawer and a regular draw underneath and on the right three regular drawers.

I believe it spent most of it's working life at a bank "Harris Savings and Trust" which looks like it was renamed around 1960 to "Harris Bank". So my guess is that this desk dates to around 1950s but possibly as early as the late 40s.

This desk has been well loved and has some superficial damage but nothing major!

Any information is greatly appreciated!
