siebe gorman & co ltd smoke helmet

By tonetta, 30 April, 2011
Description

I think this is a very intersting piece.  It does have some condition issues, the bottom leather neck flap is partially missing and there is a spot of red paint on the front.  Windows feel like mica to me rather than glass.  Wondering the value and that will determine wheather I sell or keep as a conversation piece.

Re: siebe gorman & co ltd smoke helmet

Hello Tonetta,

They appraise only the helmet at around $2K on the t.v. shows, but that is a dealer and he is quoting high retail prices. I have never seen a helmet actually sell for that. One just sold on an online auction for $500 and it had the bellows. The helmet was missing the leather flat and hose. I think $400 or so is still a fair offer if you were trying to sell it. If you were to have it insured, I think $800-1200 is fair. You could even argue $2K.

Best,
