Re: Wijmer

The Turner Manufacturing Company were at one time the largest producer of low cost Decorative Art and mirrors, which was sold in department stores and "Five & Dimes". They were based in Chicaco and went out of business by about 1975. All of their art work was mass produced and still exists in large numbers, so values tend to be quite modest for their pieces in the current market. Most prints and artwork by them sell for less than $60.00.

Re: Wijmer

Wijmer originals Oils on canvas with proper Wijmer signature is valuable. $20,000 and up depending on size. Many "prints" as reproductions exist just like many other fine artists. If your artwork is not actually on canvas and has no texture (layers of 642-373 exam oil paint) then it is more than likely a reproduction print, produced for several companies (Montgomery Wards etc.) If you think yours is an original then by all means take it to a certified art appraiser and get yours verified. Wijmer 640-816 exam was prolific and made many paintings "Originals" of the same basic scene of the Alps with a lake and trees etc. Depending on the time of year even the time of day the 220-602 exam scene changes as does the "title". - extreme fx: 5/3/2009 4:38:49 AM

Re: Wijmer

I'm curious. Where did you get the information that 'with the proper Wijmer signature the painting could be worth $20,000'? There seems to be  is no 'credible'  information on this artist Wijmer/Wilmer. According to my info he was born in Dortmund Germany in 1898.

Would love to hear from you.

Re: Wijmer

I have a Wijmer that is entitled "Snow Capped Peaks", the size is "24 x 48", it states on the tag that it is a "Windsor Art Project", with a serial # of P936 339.

Does this mean anything to anyone. It also has an "Ivory Tassle" in order to hang it.
