I have two of these chairs and a footrest. I got them from my grandfather when he passed. Just curious if anyone has any of the value.

I have a chair similar to this-- it also has an attached footrest. It was reupholstered in the 1980s but the original upholstery was not removed.. I am interested in selling it.

Hi. Do you have pictures I can see of your chair? I just bought one from NY and would like to have a mate to it. Let me know how much you are asking for it as well. [email protected]
Thanks,
John
Re: 1890's Hand Carved Dog Head Arm Chair
Dear Mrs. Bond,
Did you ever find a new dog chair for your husband? I have one too that I'm willing to sell. Excellent condition. I rebuilt the springs so it's like new. My wood and dog heads I believe are in better condition then the photos shown.
If you're still on the hunt - let me know. I live in Twin Cities - not sure if that is a problem.

Is your chair still available?

Thank you
Re: 1890's Hand Carved Dog Head Arm Chair
Yes, my chair is still available. My email address is [email protected]. I live in Twin Cities. It needs re-upholstering but the chair itself is in excellent condition.I had the chair part rebuilt so it's very sturdy. The rest of the wood carving in very good condition.

Re: 1890's Hand Carved Dog Head Arm Chair
I have one too. According to family lore, the chair traveled west from Macungie PA to Emporia KS with my great grandfather in the mid 1800's, so is earlier than the 1890 estimate (though I have seen it in the Zangerle ads) . My parents found it in mom's grandfather's barn, seat and back rotten, and had it rebuilt, so the seat and back are not authentic. I inherited it from my parents and would LOVE to have a mate for it.
I also was once told by a decorative arts appraiser that there was a record of a set of dog head chairs having been bought or ordered for the US Senate at some point. I know no more about that but I might be able to track it down.
Re: 1890's Hand Carved Dog Head Arm Chair
I would NOT sell mine under any circumstances, but WOULD buy another, and/or matching footstool.
