A similar pitcher presently 12.00 + 18.00 delivery at auction. What's with the "965"? I thought the 900-999 numbers were reserved for coin-sterling silvers.

"965" is the model/pattern number, not the silver content. Sterling silver would be marked "925" for 92.5% pure silver. Some European silver is marked  "800" for 80 % pure silver. Coin silver content varies depending on where it's from anywhere from 800 to almost Sterling grade.

I have the exact same pitcher!  I also bought it at a 2nd hand store for $15.00 - because I loved the lines & size.  Mine is in excellent condition & I am glad to know more about it.  Would love to know the current value but it is not for sale right now.
