Description
L & F Moreau staute/lamp in good/fair condition. This lamp was kept wrapped in a thick blanket in my husband's grandmother's closet for years, it was very important to her, but we are unsure of it's value. It was well kept but has chipping in the paint at various locations. I believe it traveled to the U.S. from Germany with her. I don't know much about the lamp other than that and value on the internet is hard to distinguish. Thank you for you time.
Re: L & F Moreau lamp
This lamp most likely was manufactuered by the J. B. Hirsch comapany in the mid 50's-late 70's. The figures are "La Danse" with a cataolg listing as made by C. Desmeure, although your base is signed by Moreau (looks like L. F. Moreau.), from the "Collection Francaise" I have a pair of lamps that use each figure separatey, manufactured aroung the same time period. Hirsch made many variations of these French lamps, switching out figures, bases, and various other components to suit their market. It is spelter ware, also called French Bronze, available in different finishes. For additional information, you can contact the Hirsch company, still in business. They are in either New York or New Jersey. The current market on these is a bit soft, and I would guess the value on your lamp would be from $150-$350.
