Description
This mah jongg set is complete. The front panel slides up easily and there are 5 drawers inside. The antique store owner said that it had belonged to her husband's mother. Brought back from China by her husband who was in the military and served there. She said that his mother played mah jongg regularly with friends in Queens, N.Y. We purchased it in N.E. PA.
Re: Mah Jongg Game
pictures of BACKSIDE of tiles would be of help.
These look more like BONE (cow bone), not bakelite.
Either way, it is the box that is unique and has value - the tiles are actually common.
The complete set (if all tiles are prestine) would be worth easily over 250.00 because of the box.
Re: Mah Jongg Game
Thank you for your comment. The tiles are prestine. They have a clear center and plain green back. That's why I thought they were bakelite or something like that. The scoring sticks are definitely ivory I think because they are slightly yellowish in color.
Thank you.
Re: Mah Jongg Game
If the tiles are indeed ivory i would price that around 350-375 american dollars. If they are not i would price them around 250-275 american dollars.
A very nice piece.
