Description
This 19th-century rope bed is made of maple in the Federal/Cannonball style. It was purchased in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was appraised in the 1980's for $1,000.00. It has its original bolts but brackets have been attached to accommodate a modern mattress. It is in good condition with some nicks on the beam below the headboard and a subtle wood-stain drip mark on the back of the headboard.
Re: Rope Bed
Beds like these have become a victim of fashion, values peaked for them during the antique boom of the 1980's, values for them began to drop off during the 1990's and has never really recovered. In today's market i see these beds often sell at auction for under $250.00.
