really nice Empire dresser with burled wood. Not sure type of wood, thinking Maple? 3 small rounded top drawers, and two larger bottome drawers. wooden knobs, all dovetail construction 34" tall, 42" wide and 21" in depth
Someone gave this dresser to me from an estate in Upstate New York. I know it's Empire style, and burled. Just not sure of the wood, I would like to sell it, not sure how to price it. Can anyone help?
Well from what i see its american empire probably 1930's not 1800 and it quarter sawn oak and if you live in new york as i do american empire is not worth much and with the economy maybe 50.00 but a good retail price would be 100.00 at best in my opinion if you could get it good luck.
Yep, it's "Empire Revival", none of the originals were made in oak, most were pine with mahogany veneer. This style is currently very hard to sell, it's rare to see one sell at auction for $175.00 these days.
