Czech Glass Grape Chandelier

By sandhills, 29 January, 2012
Description

I have had this item up for a few years hoping to get an appraiisal from some of the experts here and I'm pleased to say that I got a few pearls of wisdom. That being said I had never really wanted to sell really just wanted to know the value incase something happened to it. Well, because of a death in the family I have decided to sell. I have seen these go from $15,000 to $22,000.

I am a motivated seller so you are welcome to make me an offer - I have a few people interested but no definite meeting of the minds as of yet.

Anyone interested can contact me through instant Appraisal.

Re: Czech Glass Grape Chandelier

I have aquired two table lamps that seem to be made by the same company as your chandelier.  I looked at the photo you have very closely and your chandelier and my lamps are made exactly the same.  They have blown  scalloped bases with air bubbles and gold effects in it.  The stem curves up like a question mark of which the bulb is attached.  There are glass leaves attached by wire to the stem.  The grapes are clumped exactly the same as on your chandelier.  One lamp has whitish grapes and the other has purple.  Can you tell me any  more information on these pieces and their possible value.

Thanks so much

Re: Czech Glass Grape Chandelier

Hello. I own several of these, and several different kinds. These are not Czech, though many people think they are. They are Murano, and indeed, very valuable. The onechandelier you show here, single tier, depending on the number of leaf and arms ranges from $5,000 to $12,000 USD as of 2013. Yours preliminarily looks like the upper range. There are other smaller pieces that coordinate which are very rare. There are French models that are, indeed Czech, but this is a Murano, and to some, the more desirable. You identify these by the very very pale leaf arrangements, and pale grape clusters, not the bold colors of Italian design. Fortunately, you have a older one, which I enjoy more. See to it that the each individual leaf remains chip free, and be careful that the old bulbs get rewired to modern standards by a professional only.

And, if you have the coordinating pieces, keep the set together at all costs! The chandeliers, especially the large ones are so very rare, so very desireable. I've helped many people discover the item they though was worth $200 is actually worth$12,000 on ebay a couple of times. Congratulations!
