Nightwatch Barrel Table Lamp & Barrel Table

By notamylynn, 18 December, 2012
Description

Our friend inheritted these two pieces of furniture when her parents passed away and she didn't want them so she gave them to my family. We don't know much about them, besides that they are made by Nightwatch Lamp Company in Livingston, New York. The Lamp is in excellent condition, no real damage to it. The table's only marks are on the table top, which I believe is supposed to look distressed. The table top is a darker wood finish.

Can someone please tell me something about these or what they're worth? We're thinking about selling them.

Re: Nightwatch Barrel Table Lamp & Barrel Table

Hi!  There are a couple of similar items on craigslist nationwide.  If you search craigslist orange county and craigslist harrisburg there are a couple dated 1809 by same company.  One they're asking $180, other $25.  They are smaller and not as cool, but same mfg.  Looks like they are still in business in Livingston, NY.   Looks like they made other theme lamps such as carpentry, kitchen themed, and more in the 1940's.  Hope this helps!

Re: Nightwatch Barrel Table Lamp & Barrel Table

A lot of pieces like this in the Colonial style were made for the Bicentennial in 1976. Values for Bicentennial furniture and commemoratives have not really appreciated and there is not much demand for it right now. As a novelty lamp it would probably go for a couple of hundred dollars at auction.
