Victorian Chair

Description

This chair is a family heirloom and is in mint original condition.  Little is known for sure, however, it is believed that the original family members who had the chair immigrated from France to San Francisco, California in the late 1800's.  The chair was originally in a mansion located on Knob Hill in San Francisco and then passed on to local family members in the 1940's.  It is rumored that a museum had a significant interest in the chair in the late 1970's. No inscriptions or manufacturer information can be found on the chair.

Re: Victorian Chair

From the look of it it's late Victorian and appears to be walnut. It's a rather unusual design, loosely based on Renaissance "X"  folding chairs. These are not a hot seller right now, demand for Victorian furniture peaked over 10 years ago. We see chairs like this go at auctuion for less than $300.00.
