Hutschenreuther Hohenberg Small Plates

By michaelmasdaisy, 14 March, 2013
Description

Five plates white plates with gold rims.  In the center are three flowers:  a pink rose, a purple zinnia, and a yellow flower, perhaps a daisy, with a green center.  Coming from behind the flowers are three sets of leaves, two sets with three leaves, and one very small set with two leaves.  Next to the purple zinnia on the left is another small purple zinnia.  To the right of the larger zinnia is a small pink flower and a larger blue flower.

Around the rim around three sets of flowers.  Two sets are blue and look like bluebells.  The other set is the same color pink as the large rose in the center.  This set has two buds that haven't bloomed yet.

History
My mother got them in Germany or France during the Korean War. In trying to research these, I have come across other plates manufactured by the same company but stamped US Zone. I know that the US Zone was set up in Berlin and elsewhere in Germany right after the war, but I'm not sure when the Allies left. Because my mother was there in 1952, I was wondering if these were pre-World War II.

My mother, who is now 89, gave these to me to sell because she says she needs the money. I would like to purchase them from her because I've grown up with them, but I want to make sure I give her the fair amount.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Sincerely,
Pam Barkas

Re: Hutschenreuther Hohenberg Small Plates

The marking on this set was used from 1948-1970, so this set postdates World War Two. Values for post war sets like this are quite modest at present, as great quantities are being dumped on the market as a result of estate clearances of the WW2 generation. It easy to find complete dinner services for 12 at auction for less than $300.00 these days. here is a link for you:
