im not sure where it came from or how old it is. it has 830 and a mark on the back. if anyone can help me and tell me about a little i would appreciate it. thanks.

The mark on back seems to be VD. Could possibly be Van Dell. About the 830 mark, many European countries used the 830 mark on silver, indicating its purity. England usually didnt consider something sterling unless it was 925. The confusing thing is some European silver smiths and jewelry folks continued to use the 830 mark on silver that was 925 because it avoided them paying assayers and duties. You should first have it tested for silver purity. A good jeweler will have a "gun" that can test it without scraping off any of the silver. Do some research about Van Dell and see if anything is similar. Also have the chain tested. Perhaps you can report the results here so we can be of more assistance.
