Description
We own a solid oak table that has a date stamped in the leg fittings of 1902. It has 5 removable legs with removable wheels. The table expands with the help of 2 matching leaves from a square table seating 4 to a rectangle seating 6. The table has six matching chairs also made of solid oak. This table was purchased by my parent in the 1980s from an antique shop. It was given to us in 2006. There is a minor crack on the underside of the table that has been braced by a small board. The crack is not visible on the top of the table and does not affect the function of the piece. The table expands due to the tongue/groove wood slides.
Re: Oak Table
These used to be a hot item back in the 1980's through mid 90's, but demand for them had dropped considerably along with late 19th Century oak furniture in general. We often see tables like this now go at auction for less than $250.00.
