Description
I got these for free, there were 9 trays and 12 cups. Pretty sure they're just glass and from what I know using internet and what people have told me, looks like they're from the 1950's. People were selling them at about $15 per one tray and cup, not worth much but i think it's pretty neat.
Just wondering if maybe they might be worth a little more and any information on if the one area really is an ashtray like i assume and how popular these were. I'm sure they were used for little get togethers but I'm still interested, I love antiques and the sort.
I already sold some, looking to sell the rest. Wish I had somewhere to put them.
Re: Imperial Candlewick Sandwich Trays and Cups
These are acutally a pattern called Boopie made by Hocking Glass . They are called "Sip and Smoke " sets or as I call them, Snack sets. They look like candlewick but are much more sturdy and are heavier. I think they are more "chunky" ...as compared to Imperial Candlewick which is delicate in comparison. If you got $15 a set , that is excellent. I just sold 8 for $5.00 each after having them for sale for a month. I think one of the reasons they do not fetch higher prices is that people do not smoke like they used to and a few people I spoke to thought it was "gross' to have an ashtray right next to your coffee and snack. I think these were big with ladies when they had card parties and such. When I bought the 8 I mentioned I was so happy because I thought I really scored at $2 each....but it appears the market is glutted with them. I hope this info helps.....
