Description
Hello,
My mother was given this statue in 1940 but we are assuming it was created prior to that. Her neighbor gave it to her when she was a child. It has no engravings or signatures on it and we do not know the type of wood or anything about it. The person who gave it to her said it was valuable. They were living in Chelsea, MA at the time.
The statue is 22" tall and i have attached pictures for you.
Re: Carved wooden statue of Jesus circa 1930's?
So is it safe to say since i haven't heard back from anyone that this statue has no real value?
Re: Carved wooden statue of Jesus circa 1930's?
You have a very pretty Statue of Our Lord, I don't know anything about the history of it or who made it, other than it is the Sacred Heart of Jesus. If I were in your position, and although I dont know about who carved it, I would, if I were you, find a place in the home and create a small prayer corner, or small family shrine to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. place it on a nice table with tablecloth, place some candles, flowers, rosarys, a Family bible, ETC... Just whatever you do, take really good care of it for it is a very nice piece. I am a Catholic, and this would be one of those pieces that I would cherish if it were to be in my home.
