Blue and White Porcelain/Ceramic Bird Cage

By Felton Phillips, 5 January, 2015
Description

The item is blue and white procelain/ceramic dipiction of a birdcage. The cage is constructed of blue bamboo drawings. There are also blue birds depicted on the outside of the cage. The item has a 13 inch circular base and is also 13 inches in height. There is a blue stamp on the bottom of the base. It is either some type of symbol or someones intials. The initials look like CF or CP .There also appears to be a piece missing from the very top. I do not believe this was hung anywhere because it is heavy. The piece was given to me by a friend. Someone gave it to him and he did not want it.

Re: Blue and White Porcelain/Ceramic Bird Cage

These ceramic bird cages tend to be 20th century examples and have three origins China, France or Italy, this one is probably either French or Italian in my opinion. Values for then vary considerably by size and decoration, but most sell for less than $300.00 at auction, ones comparble to this at about $150.00.

Thanks for the information. I now know more about the piece than I did before I did this post.
