Victopia Ironstone

By mel0810, 15 December, 2015
Description

I've had this bowl that is stamped on the bottom "Victopia Ironstone" for many years now. I have looked online but can't find any bowls that look like this bowl nor one similar. I'm wanting to sell the bowl asap due to my medical issues but I don't know what to price it since I can't find anything about it. The bowl is 12 1/2 inches round. If anyone can help with giving me knowledge about the bowl along with what to price it at I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me!! You may also contact me by email [email protected] or by phone 563-349-9984. Thanks again!

Re: Victopia Ironstone

Sorry to say, but based on the marking this piece is a 1980's reproduction of Victorian style Staffordshire pottery. Pieces like this have very modest values, less than $50.00.

Re: Victopia Ironstone

How can you tell? Even though it's marked with the Victopia Ironstone & the stamp is the same stamp I've seen on other victopia ironstone? I've seen stamps with the Staffordshire symbol & their different stamps than the one that's on my bowl. What has me so thrown off on this bowl is all the gold outlining.

Re: Victopia Ironstone

The marking is meant to resemble the British coat of arms, which was used by a number of Staffordshire potteries during the eraly to mid 19th century, but the marking on this one is a well documented fake.
