Harmony House Bedroom Set

By Jeanine Carlin, 29 January, 2016
Description

I have a FOUR piece Harmony House Bedroom Set. It belonged to my Great Grandmother who died in 1960, so my guess is the set is from the 1950's. I have a Double bed frame (headboard, footboard etc...), a four drawer tall dresser, a six drawer short dresser, and an accompanying (very heavy) hanging wall mirror. The furniture is in reasonable condition but is old with some scuffs and scratches. Especially on the tops of the dressers. I'm looking to possibly sell and wanting an idea of what a fair price would be? I have pics of all except for the tall dresser as it's currently wedged into a corner of the basement.

Re: Harmony House Bedroom Set

All I know for sure is Harmony House Furniture was sold by Sears. I have a Blonde desk and chair from my Grandparents.

Re: Harmony House Bedroom Set

Not a big demand for sets like this currently, we'd retail a comparable set in very good condition for under $1000.00, they often go ata auction for under $500.00.  "Harmony House" (1940-1968), marketed by Sears was a style and color system for the entire house. Almost any household item could be bought to fit the Harmony House schemes, including: covered upholstery fabrics, draperies, bedroom furniture, sheets, towels, table lamps, dinette sets, living room sets, mirrors, carpeting, tile, and appliances. All these items were sold under the harmony House brand. This set by Harmony House is loosely based on the Danish Modern style, which first became popular after World War Two and made through the 1960's. The style is popular again with Decorators and it sells well in the current market.
