a sword stamped under handle with either a 6 or a 9. no other legible markings although other markings are present. it is steel and 2ft in length. can anyoe help me identify this please?

Most military related swords would have more markings than this one, I'd suggest having someone actually physically examine it, contact a local auction house for a referral to a local collector or appraisers to have that done.
