I have a unique piece of furniture that I bought at an estate sale and have never seen anything quite like it in person I’ve tried asking many people about what it is including joining a bunch of antique furniture sites and the most common opinion is that is either a renaissance revival American or Victorian hall mirror or pier mirror and honestly I’d rather ask a professional to tell me more about it. It’s such a gorgeous statement piece in wonderful condition and it’s definitely a 19th century piece. I was told by the lady I bought it from that her parents brought it from Germany. It’s in great condition

Your hall seat is in the Renaissance Revival style and appears to be constructed of walnut, one of the top three woods used during this period, mahogany and rosewood being the other two. Values for large hall seats like this peaked in the early 1990's along with the fad for Victorian decorating. Since that time demand and values for Victorian pieces like this have been in decline. Currently at auction comparables most often sell for about $1500.00.
