1st I have to say I really don't know much about furniture ..
So I found this chair ..
I liked the style .. then noticed the nail heads (which seemed old) and the price was right. : )
When I got it home I pulled the staples and fabric (pillow case) off the bottom (which I know someone added) .. to my surprise I found springs. + the wood I guess may be mahogany and the saw marks - I assume are from hand saws ..

Chairs like this tend to date 1890-1920. They were mass produced during that time, so values tend to be modest at this time. They last peaked in value during the late 1980s. But the values since then, have dropped off dramatically, quite often at auction comparable chairs will sell for under $50.00.
