Help me identify this item.

Description

I'm not sure what this item is. I was metal detecting and found this in a box that was busried in the ground about 12 inches. I have no idea what it could be. Any one have any idea what this is??

Not 100% sure but could be a salt celler, back when a salt and pepper shaker was not the dinner table norm they would but small containers of salt out instead.
