Maddock and sons was a well know pottery company that operated out of Staffordshire, England from 1855 the the early 1960's. The "RD" marking is a British design registry marking, a kind of patent for designs granting protection of the design for three years. The number on it dates it to 1898. No great value though I'm afraid, pottery of this vintage and type was made in huge numbers for the export market, comparable pieces often sell for under $20.00 each in the current market.
