Description Closed compote, American, about 1877 James Gillinder & Sons, Philadelphia and Greensburg, Pennsylvania Pattern: Lion Head frosted pressed glass; 32 x 21 cm A popular pattern that features three lion heads on the stem. The factory produced several finial variations for the compote covers in this line: a crouched lion, a lion head, and a rampant lion. Frosted glass quickly proved popular for Gillinder and it began producing other frosted patterns that would also prove successful.
