Ode to Mzee, by Joseph (Josiah) Kariuki, cover design Louis Mwaniki. 1964 Nairobi Chemchami Cultural Center. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was the leader of Kenya from independence in 1963 to his death in 1978, serving first as Prime Minister (1963-64) and President (1964-78). He is considered the founding father of the Kenyan nation. Joseph/Josiah Kariuki was a Kenyan socialist politician during the administration of the Kenyatta government. He held different government positions from 1963, when Kenya became an independent country, to 1975, when he was assassinated. There is an introduction by Tom Mboya who was also assassinated in 1969. Typed print on paper bound together with two staples. Booklet measures 8x10 and has some staining on cover as shown. The cost on the cover was One Shilling. Seems to be rather rare. Thanks
This item is believed to be a 1940s era marionette stage or theater. The set comes with a stage with four distinct holes for the four yellow poles. It also comes with a top cover that I believe hangs from the four poles(last picture). The set also came with what looks like an animal cage for the marionettes and wheels that look like they are connected to the cage in some way. Lastly there is a board first pictured that came with the set along with a ladder made with rope and blue wooden boards. The final items I am not quite sure how they belong to the set, I've have been doing tons of research trying to locate the answers. Any and all information is greatly appreciated thank you for taking the time to read this.
