The Deanery was built to the design of Sir Edwin Lutyen's, and the gardens designed by Gertrude Jekyll. The house was built for Edward Hudson founder of Country Life magazine.
The firescreen is from the early 20th century and is is of the Arts & Crafts movement.
It is a beautifully designed & carved piece of furniture which looks so immpressive.
This is a service for 8 . Dishes are bowl shaped and scalloped. They are orange with a blue and green trim and a white bird in the middle. I have a platter, sugar and creamer with the set. The set was purchased in 1970. They are ( I believe) a limited set due to the fact that there is a hand written number of 690 on the bottom of each piece.
