Wife's Grand Father restored antiques & was a furniture maker for churches. He collected this in the 50's/60's and said that this is a unique piece and not many around like it. http://appleton.craigslist.org/atq/2687836609.html
Bought this kimono in Yokosuka Japan around 1991 and unsure what I paid for it. Just thought it looked nice but knew nothing about kimonos. Its very heavy with no damage or issues from use.
It starts out white in color at the top and changes to coral as it flows to the bottom. I did find one tag in the arm but for whatever reason, the top of the tag has been cut off...not sure why.
Some of the previews of the pics are not showing up, but click on the tag and the picture will come up.
This set was left to my late mother by my grandmother, and now has come to me. My grandmother used it for all holidays & special occasions as far back as I can remember. There are 8 place settings (fork, knife, cream soup spoon, & 2 teaspoons), 2 solid & 1 slotted serving spoons, 1 serving fork, 1 sugar spoon, 1 gravy ladle, 1 olive fork, & 1 fish knife all in the original Rogers Bros wooden box. The photo also shows a few other incidental pieces (including a pair of engraved silver napkin rings from my parents' wedding), but I am seeking an approximate replacement value for the Rogers Bros 1847 Remembrance pieces. (I had just wrapped some of the pieces in GladWrap the day before, as I need to transport the set and didn't want the pieces rattling around during the trip, but they have been stored unwrapped in the box until then.)
