What is it?

Category
General Antiques and Collectibles
Condition
Excellent
Description

It looks to be an old measuring device of some kind since it says "100 ft" on the winding arm.  It does not have any tape or string on it at the moment so I wasnt quite sure.

Presto Recording Corp 1930's carbon microphone

Category
Vintage Electronics
Condition
Good
Description

This microphone was picked up at a flea market many years ago for less than $1.  There isn't much information about it online. I know it's a carbon mic that apparently came with a "j5" recording cutter.  The cutter was released somewhere between 1930 and 1937 and is one of the first cutters that were available.  So I atleast have an close estimate as to when the microphone was manufactured.  The cable had started to fall apart so it needed to be removed.  I believe that it still holds value in it's current state.  Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
