Yellow Bird

Category
Decorative Arts
Condition
Good
Description

This art was bought by my father to an artist from Peru in the 1940's in New York. The signature reads: L.M. Ruiz. The bird is made from real feathers from the bird that is presented in the picture. I do not know how much money my father paid for it. It is in very good conditions and it draws the attention from everyone that enters my living room.

Hoagland's / The Rexall Store reverse painted glass large pharmacy sign

Category
Other
Condition
Excellent
Description

Hello.  My father is a retired pharmacist, and I'm trying to find out information for him on an antique pharmacy sign.  I have done months of research on this item and have been able to find little even remotely similar; certainly nothing of its size or quality.

The sign is very large -- it is 33" tall and 76-3/4" long.  It's reverse painting on glass with a wood frame.  Painted as if banners, it says "Hoagland's" on the red top and "The Rexall Store" on the black bottom, connected by a yellow design, all on a green background; all text and images are edged in gold.

The way my father took the picture also unfortunately covers the style at the end of the line from the 'R' under the word "Rexall", so please let me know if that matters.

My father told me it was likely from the front of or outside the store and is typical of signs circa approximately 1920.  I do not know from which state it comes.  It's in excellent condition though could probably use minor restoration on very small parts of the paint in some of the white lettering only.

I would love to find out more about the history of this particular sign as well as its value to share with my parents, so they can consider whether to sell it.

1959 #1 Brunette Barbie Doll

Category
Dolls and Plush Toys
Condition
Good
Description

This Barbie fits all of the criteria of an original 1959# 1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie.  Includes the black and white bathing suit which is coming apart in front, the black shoes with the holes in them for the stand, The 2 prong stand, the white/blue lens sunglasses-one arm of the sunglasses is off, but it is in with the accessories, the top of the box, the ends of the box are detached, there is no bottom to the box.  The earrings are missing so there is no green on the ear and the little booklet is missing.  Her feet are discolored where the shoes fit on them.  The shoes cover that up.   I am wanting to list it along with a case and some other vintage barbie clothing and accessories on ebay or at another collectible site.  I just am not sure how much to ask for her.  Can anyone help before I post it for sale anywhere?  I will consider offers as well if you are interested in her, otherwise I would love some advise for posting on ebay.  I can email more photos of closeups if anyone wants them just let me know!   Thank you!
