Found in a charity thrift store in southwest Pa, the design caught my eye immediately!Thinking that it is an old vanity powder or cream jar but I would'n't be surprised to find it's old Avon - very pretty classic Greek design, colors are very vintage colors. Can you help???
bronze tones with gold gilt stripe on edge of lid - two thin white stripes on top of base - three greek female figures on decal - green red pale yellow colors - interior is glazed white - bottom of jar is brown shading into white
AFTER DOING A LITTLE BIT OF MY OWN RESEARCH, I THINK THIS PLATE IS ONE OF THE FIRST SERIES OF PLATES MADE FOR MACYS DEPT STORE IN 1939 FOR THE WORLDS FAIR. COMMEMORATING THE INAUGURATION OF GEORGE WASHINGTON AT FEDERAL HALL NEW YORK APRIL 30, 1789. ONLY IT SAYS GEORGE "WAFINGTON". IT HAS ALL THE OTHER MARKINGS SUCH AS WEDGWOOD AND ANOTHER WORD I CAN'T QUITE MAKE OUT IMPRINTED IN THE PLATE. ALSO UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM OF WEDGWOOD ETRURIA, ENGLAND IT HAS WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE #35 SLIGHTLY IMPRINTED IN BLUE
I don't know if this ia a serving dish or what but it has a gold pattern around the outer edge of the lid the bottom of the dish and the top of the dish also there is gold on the handles of the dish as well as the lid. This dish has a small pink rose pattern on it with green pedles
18th Century classics king bed by Drexel. model number 118-587-1A. Solid wood, mahogany I believe. Great condition, hand carved detail and tall end posts.
