Definitely a desk used for letter writing. On the back of the desk are the words
L.Hitchcock.Hitchcocksville.CONN.warranted. The N's in CONN are backwards.
The number 23 is on the back of the desk drawer

Possibly similar Louis XV or XVI style chairs. We believe it's European in design. Very few nicks and scratches on them.
