This is a Lane cedar chest with the style number of 482043 and serial number 345211. I know the manufacture date is the serial number in reverse based on the Lane website. This is %70 red cedar and the cedar is 1/4" thick based on tags on the inside of the lid of the chest.
4 drawers all have spoon carvings in them - don't have any idea of the meanings, pin and cove for the drawer construction, carcass construction of piece, all original locking mechanisms and hardware, 2 hanker chief drawers are in decent shape, very heavy piece, we think it's elm because the grain seems like it's feathered, drawers open and close smoothly and when opening - we can smell cedar.
1840's Rosewood Dresser/Chest, Solid 1/2inch veneers on dresser/chest, nothing has been changed or altered, 6 hand carved drawer pulls, keyhole covers are very ornate and are wood, has small dovetails for the construction of the drawers
